Why I have stepped away from JAMS PR

Today I made the decision to step away from the PR agency I started over four years ago and start afresh with something that is just me.

Since the beginning of the year it has been just me. Before Covid-19 we were facing uncertain times in the restaurant PR world - there were delays in openings with clients, stalling on signing contracts and generally a bit of a lag and then Covid-19 happened and my business went to zero clients almost overnight.

I was scared and worried about the future and concerned about how on earth I was going to pay all my bills.

I started volunteering early on in lockdown, if I am honest, it was a way I could leave the house but it turned into a passion. I am thankful in some ways due to the lockdown as I have met people I never would have met.

I have been volunteering with the Women's Inclusive Team since the beginning of April. They are a charity run by women for women and are helping to combat poverty in Tower Hamlets. I helped set up an emergency food bank and at the peak we were servicing nearly 300 users a week. My work within WIT has grown to help with general organisation, helping to coordinate our move to a permanent home, volunteer management and fundraising. Fundraising is not something I have done before but I have helped to raise over £40,000 since April.

Working for this charity and interacting with the people they help on a daily basis has made me really revaluate who I am working with and why. I don't want to be doing PR for companies who can't say thank you for the millions of pounds of press I am generating them each month. I don't want to work with clients where I don't agree with their company values but do as I have bills that need to be paid. I don't want to work with clients who don't value me as a person and the expertise and experience I bring to the table.

From now on I will be super selective with the clients and projects I am giving my time and and energy to. In turn I will be more engaged and focussed with those I am working with as I will genuinely care about what I am promoting.

I offer bullshit free PR, direct and to the point. If you have a project you're looking to promote - get in touch!
